TOTTENHAM are reportedly looking to make a £2.6million swoop for highly-rated Barcelona youngster Carles Alena.
The 19-year-old midfielder is one of the top La Masia prospects to come through in recent years.
But Alena is yet to sign a long-term contract with the Catalan giants and could leave this summer.
Spanish newspaper AS claims a number of teams are interested – but Spurs are leading the race for his signature.
Alena got a taste of first-team football when he made his senior debut against Granada in April.
And he apparently wants to be guaranteed by new boss Ernesto Valverde that there will be chances before committing his future.
Barcelona will have to act quickly, with Alena having just one year left on his current deal.
He also has a release clause worth just £2.6m, which rises to £10.5m at the start of July.
Spurs are now considering whether to complete a quick swoop and a deal could be completed by the end of the week.
