Paulinho isn’t a name that will live long in the memory banks of Spurs fans.
The midfielder arrived heralded as the Brazilian Frank Lampard but left White Hart Lane having played move like Frank Butcher.
Barcelona must have not been paying too much attention to his two-year stint in England because they are reportedly interested in bringing the 28-year-old to the Nou Camp.
Don’t believe us? It’s come straight from the horses mouth.
Paulinho confirmed that there’s an offer on the table from Barcelona, who are starting a new era under manager Ernesto Valverde.
He told Globoe Sporte: “There’s been contact with my agent. There’s an offer it’s true, and the two parties are talking.
“I’m really proud that a great club like Barcelona are interested in my situation- there is no price for that.”
But Paulinho isn’t getting too carried away with the rumours. He’s actually considering staying in China, where he’s playing with Guangzhou Evergrande.
“At the moment I’m really happy with my life and with my career,” he continued.
“There are a lot of things that I have to weigh up, one of them being my happiness.
“I think, first of all, the way things are with my partner here in China, we really like where we are, the people, how things are with the club, the success. The truth is that I don’t know what to do.”
So it looks like Paulinho might turn down the advances of Barcelona in order to stay in China. We can’t say we saw that one coming.
To be fair, can you really blame him for wanting to play with Zheng Long and Yu Hanchao instead of Lionel Messi and Neymar?
As you were.
