Pep Guardiola is getting the band back together.
Guardiola managed the Brazilian in his time at Barcelona, while Alves moved to the Old Lady last season and has enjoyed a successful year, winning the Serie A title and getting through to the final of the Champions League.
On Saturday Alves’ team-mate Gonzalo Higuain accidentally posted a farewell message to Alves, suggesting Alves may be leaving the Italian side.
And The Sun report Guardiola wants 34-year-old Alves to bring stability to the City defence.
Not content with just one right-back, Guardiola is also reportedly still in the market for Spurs defender Kyle Walker, with a move still on the cards despite the club moving for Alves.
Two right-backs, Pep? What are you scheming?
There can only be one thing for it – Pep Guardiola is planning to deploy a lopsided 4-4-2 formation next season. And we can’t wait.
