It’s that time of the season again.
Arsenal are going to get linked with every world-class striker around only to loan a 23-year-old from the second tier of French football on deadline day.
The latest name to be linked with a move to Arsenal is France international Alexandre Lacazette.
The 26-year-old scored 37 goals in all competitions for Lyon this season. His tally of 28 Ligue 1 goals was something not even Karim Benzema managed while he was playing for Lyon.
But don’t get too excited, Arsenal fans. It doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas couldn’t resist speaking about the situation while unveiling new signing Marcal.
He said: “Alexandre Lacazette was told he could leave. We had negotiations with Atletico Madrid. Things didn’t work out.
“We now have a very nice offer from Arsenal. But, for us, he will not leave.”
Not what Arsenal fans want to hear.
It’s alright though, we’re sure the pursuit of Kylian Mbappe will be much smoother.
Hopefully Arsene Wenger kept hold of Yaya Sanogo’s details.
