Gary Cahill shuts down his Twitter trolls with brilliant response

The England defender had a tough night against France, but had the last laugh on social media

And while we’ll leave the inquest to Southgate (crikey), a number of players in the England squad would’ve returned home from the Stade de France feeling slightly less assured of their place in the team.

England’s defence will be particularly feeling it, as the back-line was consistently savaged by a France attack consisting of the exciting young trio of Kylian Mbappe, Thomas Lemar and Ousmane Dembele.

But it was Paul Pogba who produced the biggest moment of magic, when he did THIS to Gary Cahill midway through the second-half:

That certainly is some impressive footwork, but you’ve got to feel for Cahill after that even if he did just win the Premier League with Chelsea.

As you’d expect, the good people of Twitter were quick to berate the defender for the Pogba trick.

But the 31-year-old had a simple but effective method of shutting down his trolls:

Touche, Gary.
