Come rain or shine, Harry Redknapp always delivers in the transfer market.
The man who signed Paulo Di Canio for next to nothing and persuaded Rafael van der Vaart to move to north London looks close to pulling off his best transfer yet.
John Terry is in discussions to drop down to the Championship and play for Redknapp at Birmingham.
Redknapp, speaking on Talksport, confirmed that Birmingham had made an offer for the former England international.
The 70-year-old said: “I’d love to have him at the football club. He’s a fantastic captain and great leader.
“We’ve made him a good offer and we have done the best we can. It’s up to John now, but we would love him at Birmingham.
“He could play for anybody still. He has got a couple of good years in him. I had a chat with him and said to him to come in – he’s doing his coaching badges – have a year or two and who knows what he wants to do in the future?”
Redknapp helped Birmingham avoid relegation and finish 19th in the Championship last season.
But he’s clearly got his eyes on a bigger prize next season, having achieved promotion with Portsmouth and QPR in the past.
Whatever happens, it’s unlikely to be boring.
