Break ups are never easy.
Diego Costa and Antonio Conte are currently going through the full roller coaster of emotions having decided their futures just don’t lie together.
Conte has reportedly told Costa that he isn’t in his plans next season, despite scoring 20 goals during Chelsea’s Premier League winning campaign.
Now Spanish media outlet AS has published the reported text conversation between the pair, and it’s less than friendly.
Conte opened up with: “Hi Diego, I hope you are well. Thanks for the seasono we spent together. Good luck for the next year but you are not in my plan.”
We’ll let him off for the dodgy spelling and grammar given he’s only been in England for less than a year.
But come on Antonio, where is the warmth? Where is the charisma?
You’d forgive Diego for replying with a volley of expletives, especially with his fiery on-pitch temperament.
However Diego went for the less is more approach, replying ‘OK’ and leaving it at that.
So where next for Diego?
He could pop up on Love Island and make a surprise appearance.
Or he could go to AC Milan, with Jorge Mendes reportedly shopping him to the Serie A side, although wages remain an issue.
Most likely is a reunion with Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid.
Wherever he goes, he’s unlikely to be sending Conte a Christmas card this year.
