What do you get if you cross FIFA and Rollercoaster Tycoon?
Well, this. A group of Chinese firms are opening an amusement park – based entirely on the life and times of Lionel Messi.
The Barcelona and Argentina superstar will be the figurehead for the 80,000 square metre park in Nanjing, eastern China.
The ‘Messi Experience Park’ promises to include attractions such as ‘football clinics’, highlights of Messi’s career, and general ‘entertainment activities’.
Messi has been in China on a four-day trip, including announcing the formation of the park, which is due to open to the public in 2019.
He said: “I hope to provide them the experience they never had before and to inspire them to pick up the sport early on.
“Hopefully, they will feel that I am around when visiting the park.”
It is hoped the park will inspired more young children to take up football, with 46,000 sq meters of indoor facilities, alongside 12,000 sq metres of “garden game areas” and 25,000 sq metres of public space.
