FORMER Premier League target and Football Manager favourite Mohamed Tchite was forced to escape the wrath of angry fans… by hiding in a TOILET.
The striker, who had two spells with Standard Liege, went to watch the Belgian club’s 2-0 win over Lierse last Friday.
But some Liege fans have never forgiven Tchite for leaving to join arch-rivals Anderlecht in 2006.
They spotted the 33-year-old on a concourse in the Maurice Dufrasne Stadium an yelled insults and struck him.
He took refuge in a gents toilet while the thugs chanted abuse at him. They posted footage online of themselves singing: "Tchite is a b*****d."
It took an hour before police and stewards could intervene to free the shaken striker.
Tchite said: "The fans were drunk. I told them that despite leaving for Anderlecht I still came back for a second spell with Liege."
Tchite attracted interest from Everton and West Brom eight years ago, as well as Blackburn and Wigan during their top-flight days.
The Burundi-born frontman now plays for Brussels-based third division side Royal White Star.
His other previous clubs include Racing Santander, Club Brugge, Romanians Ploiesti and Simon Mignolet's first club Sint Truiden.
