What PSG left-back Maxwell hasn’t won probably isn’t worth winning.
The Brazilian has lifted league titles in four different countries, won the Champions League with Barcelona and accumulated 36 pieces of silverware in total.
But he’s no longer the most decorated player in football. Sorry, Max.
The 35-year-old was overtaken by Dani Alves at the weekend after Juventus were crowned champions of Italy with a 3-0 win against Crotone.
What are they feeding Brazilian full-backs?
Alves, who arrived at Barcelona on a free transfer from Barcelona, has now won a league title and Coppa Italia in Turin, with the chance to lift the Champions League on offer next week.
But the gold rush isn’t over just yet.
Maxwell, who’ll leave PSG when the season finishes, could go back level with Alves if the Parisians beat Angers in the Coupe de France.
The only other current player in sight is Andres Iniesta who’s five behind Alves, on 32, but could add to his collection by winning the Copa del Rey final against Alaves.
Barcelona must be regretting the decision to allow Alves to leave the club for absolutely nothing last summer.
Absolutely. Nothing. Not even a Tesco’s meal deal.
