CHELSEA ace Marcos Alonso has missed out on Spain’s squad for June internationals in favour of Nacho Monreal.
Alonso, 26, has shone in a wing-back role this season as the Blues stormed to the Premier League title.
But it has not been enough to convince Julen Lopetegui to include him in his 23-man list for upcoming clashes with Colombia and Macedonia with Arsenal left-back Monreal preferred.
Blues team-mate Cesc Fabregas also misses out and Manchester United player of the season Ander Herrera is another surprise omission.
Gunners right-back Hector Bellerin was only named in the under-21s squad and Juan Mata misses out after recently returning from injury.
Six Premier League stars were included in total with Alonso’s Blues team-mates Diego Costa, Pedro and Cesar Azpilicueta, United stopper David de Gea and Man City midfielder David Silva also selected.
Real Madrid youngster Marco Asensio and AC Milan’s Gerard Deulofeu have been included as well as former Liverpool flop Iago Aspas.
Spain take on the Colombians in a friendly clash in Murcia on June 7 before travelling to Skopje for a World Cup qualifying clash on June 11.
They are currently above Italy on goal difference at the top of Group G after recording four wins and a draw in five matches.
