Arsenal fans have a fairly on/off relationship with defensive midfielder Francis Coquelin.
When he’s on his game, he can be the steel and spine needed as protection for the Gunners’ attacking flow to flourish.
When he’s not at the races, well, it’s a different matter entirely.
However, in the Gunners’ 2-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday afternoon the Arsenal faithful were firmly in the Coquelin In camp, after he came on as a late substitute – for one reason only.
As Wayne Rooney lined up a shot in the 81st minute, Coquelin attempted to block the shot in a rather unorthodox style.
Look. At. That. Dedication.
Arsenal fans were also quick to point out the difference between Coquelin’s commitment to blocking a shot in comparison to Manchester United’s Ander Herrera, who turned his back on Granit Xhaka’s 35-yard strike and inadvertently deflected the ball over David De Gea for Arsenal’s opener.
