However, according to the Daily Star, the soon to be out-of-contract midfielder reportedly wants to stay in England.

But he will need to take a huge reduction in wages if he is to remain at the Etihad.

He currently earns £230,000 a week at City, but the club are only willing to offer up £100,000 per week if he signs a new deal.

Boss Pep Guardiola, who kept the former Barcelona star out of the side at the start of the season following a row with his agent Dimitri Seluk, is considering keeping the star.

Despite being in the market for new players, the experienced and popularity of the 33-year-old within the squad is something that the Spanish coach is a fan of.

Toure is currently concentrating all his efforts on helping City finish in the top four before considering his future at the end of the campaign.

Away from the north west, Toure is not willing to reconsider his decision to retire from international football.

New Ivory Coast boss Marc Wilmots said recently he wanted to speak with the ace to try nad persuade him to change his mind to play in next year’s World Cup.

But Toure said: “No, no. I don’t change my mind now.”
