Pep Guardiola has added Jack Butland to his wish list as he aims to solves his goalkeeping problem.
Claudio Bravo and Willy Caballerro have both struggled this season, while Joe Hart will be sold barring a seismic U-turn.
Butland joins Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford and Benfica No1 Ederson as Guardiola’s top targets, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The Stoke star has long been regarded as Hart’s most likely successor in the England jersey.
And despite his recent injury problems, Guardiola has been monitoring Butland, 24, for some time.
Either that or he’s been playing a lot of FIFA.
The England keeper is a favourite among dedicated gamers.
City’s well-documented troubles between the sticks have been the major issue of the Spaniard’s reign.
Hart was axed shortly after Guardiola arrived in a controversial move which saw him sent to Torino on loan.
England’s No1 will be allowed to leave permanently in the window, with City valuing him at £30m.
Caballero – currently Bravo’s deputy – is out of contract and unlikely to receive a new deal.
If in doubt, always go with who is good on FIFA.
