Jose Mourinho is not a happy man.
His Manchester United side blew their chance to keep their top-four hopes in their hands with a 1-1 draw at home to struggling Swansea on Sunday.
Gylfi Sigurdsson’s brilliant late free kick was a dagger to United’s bid to reach the Champions League next season via the league route, whilst a number of injuries have also decimated their squad in recent weeks.
But Mourinho wasn’t in a merciful mood after dropping two points.
The ‘Special One’ tore into injured trio Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw, questioning their mentality and commitment to the cause.
Jones and Smalling have been sidelined for some time with long-term problems, but Mourinho still doesn’t feel they are showing enough application in their rehabilitation.
He said: “I prefer not to speak about Jones & Smalling.
“I prefer to speak about Mata giving everything to be back. I am grateful for that.”
He then turned his anger towards Shaw, not for the first time this season, after the left back hobbled off early on in the Old Trafford draw.
“To leave the pitch after 10 minutes, I am expecting a very big injury,” Mourinho added, evidently querying whether Shaw really was injured at all.
That might make an awkward Monday training sesson…
