Marcus Rashford dived to win a penalty against Swansea at Old Trafford.
There’s no two ways about it.
Replays showed the 19-year-old forward was on his way down well before Lukasz Fabianski made minimal contact in the box.
At half-time BT Sport’s punditry team were very lenient on Rashford and preferred to question referee Neil Swarbrick’s decision instead.
Rashord’s status as United and England’s ‘Golden Boy’ seemed to have served him well.
However, BBC pundit Chris Sutton pulled no punches.
The former Premier League forward said: “Rashford dived for the penalty, that’s simulation and a really poor decision. And really poor from Rashford.
“Never a penalty in a million years.”
Ex-referee Graham Poll watched the replay in the BT Sport studios and explained how Rashford had conned Swarbrick into handing United the lead.
Poll said: “There’s no intent, he’s pulled his hands away, he’s read the situation.”
Sorry Marcus, but your promising talent does not grant you special treatment.
