The fallout from the best El Clasico in years on Sunday is showing no signs of relenting.
Lionel Messi’s winner, with the last kick of the game, clinched a dramatic 3-2 win for Barcelona that blew the La Liga title race wide open.
But there were so many side notes and caveats to the encounter which made it the most enthralling clash between the two great rivals for some time.
The lip readers were out in force to catch a spat between Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique following the former’s red card, and it appears they’ve also caught a fruity altercation between Luis Suarez and Dani Carvajal too.
Carvajal, allegedly, told Suarez prior to Messi’s late winner: “You lost to Juventus 0-3. Go and rest for Copa del Rey and watch the Champions League at home.
“This is the home of the champions.”
Of course, at the time, Real Madrid were drawing 2-2 and on their way to preserving their three-point lead at the top of the league knowing they also had a game in hand over Barca.
But after Messi’s incredible stoppage-time intervention the race is now back on, with both sides level on 75 points going into the final month of the season.
Carvajal has previous in El Clasico fixtures too after appearing to stick his middle finger up to Barca fans during a clash a few years ago.
Will Barca and Suarez make him live to regret his latest comments?
