Burnley midfielder Joey Barton has been banned from football for 18 months after admitting FA misconduct.
The 34-year-old appeared at an FA hearing last week and was charged in December after it emerged he had placed 1,260 bets over a ten-year period as a professional footballer.
Players are not allowed to gamble on the outcome or any other aspects of games, as per FA Rule E8 relating to corruption and potential match-fixing.
Barton was also fined £30,000 and warned over his future conduct.
He released details of the bets he placed on his website joeybarton.com…
The former Man City, Newcastle, QPR and Rangers midfielder rejoined Burnley three days before his misconduct came to light.
He’s featured in 13 Premier League games for the Clarets this season, scoring one goal.
