Arsene Wenger has taken the decision to rest his entire first XI against Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16 second leg.
Arsenal take on Lincoln City four days after their clash against Bayern, with Wenger deciding the FA Cup game was too important to risk players for.
The Gunners’ unofficial spokesman Lee Satchell explained: “The lads are bloody knackered at the moment. Arsene keeps making them watch highlights of the Invincible season on repeat so they haven’t been sleeping lately.
“Everyone’s talking about Bayern but they’re forgetting about how good Lincoln City are. Look at the boy Matt Rhead up top. He’s a giant! A proper beast.
“He’s 6ft 4in tall. You can’t ask be asking Rob Holding to mark that. We’d be done for cruelty.
“Yaya Sanogo scored four goals against our Under-12s the other day. You watch Mats Hummels and Javi Martinez try and stop him. They’ll get nowhere near him.
“And you saw how badly Hector Bellerin got done by Douglas Costa last time out. So we’re going to stick Carl Jenkinson out there and let that take care of itself.
“If we start Granit Xhaka he’ll only two foot someone after five minutes and get suspended again. If we have to pay any more fines we’ll go bankrupt.
“We’ll probably keep Alexis Sanchez on the bench for both games. You saw the smile on the lad’s face against Liverpool. He was loving watching on from the sidelines. He even shook Arsene’s hand in training today.
“So when you actually look at it rationally it makes perfect sense. Simple really.”
