FIFA 18: Who will be the best young players on the new game?

We're tipping these prospects to be the ones to watch next season

The 2016/17 season has brought about some breakthrough performances from some of the hottest talents in world football.

And while EA Sports now have the capabilities to provide nice little boosts to players they may have rated a touch too low early in the season, we’ve been thinking about who the highest rated young players will be in the next edition of the game.

FIFA 18 is due to be released in a few months’ time, but the following Under-21 stars are the ones we’re tipping to be the ones to watch next season.

We’ve included the players’ first ever FUT card to compare where they’ve come from – and in the eternal words of Drake, for some of them, they really did start at the bottom… and now they’re rated 85 thanks to an IF TOTW card.

Here’s our tips for next season…

Kylian Mbappe

Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe has hit the headlines for his goalscoring record both domestically and in the Champions League.

Mbappe, or Mbappe Lottin as he’s referred to in the game, started the season with a Silver 71, but his TOTW27 performance soon saw him given an IF Gold card of 81.

Christian Pulisic

pulisic

16

American sensation Christian Pulisic only entered the game for the first time this season, at a Silver 69 rated card.

However, thanks to his performances for Borussia Dortmund this campaign, the 18-year-old earned a decent 81 IF Gold card for his TOTW28 pick.

Ousmane Dembele

Speaking of Borussia Dortmund, the German giants are currently assembling a young team guaranteed to be challenging in a big way in a few years time.

Ousmane Dembele has had a superb breakthrough season, picking up five national team appearances for France, and saw his normal Gold 77 FUT card increase to a tasty 85 IF in the Winter Upgrade season.

Moussa Dembele

m-dembele-fut-card

From one Dembele to another (they really do get everywhere), Celtic’s Moussa Dembele might go a bit under the radar because, well, he plays in Scotland.

But those multi-million pound transfer rumours don’t appear from nowhere, and the Frenchman’s 32 goals in 46 games has made the 20-year-old hot property.

And look at that improvement – from a Bronze 54 for Fulham on FIFA 15 to his most recent card… he really should be Gold though.

Dele Alli

16

Just look at that improvement. 54 Bronze FUT card for MK Dons in FIFA 15, to one of the Premier League’s best players, receiving an 86 rated IF for his POTM performances.

Alli is simply one of the best young players in the world right now, and it’s easy to forget he’s still just 20 years old.

Gabriel Jesus

Carrying on our journey through the Premier League’s best young talent, Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus hasn’t really been around long, but we know he’s got quality.

Recent injuries saw the Brazilian starlet sidelined, but his 82 IF Gold card was a sign of things to come.

Marcus Rashford

16

We don’t really need to say much about Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, other than his 76 rating is likely to improve.

He even had a Squad Building Challenge which saw him given an 82 rated card, though a 78 normal rating is more probable in FIFA 18.

Leon Bailey

16

From a normal rating of a bronze 62 card on FIFA 16 to a big money transfer to German club Bayer Leverkusen saw Bailey become the biggest thing out of Jamaica since Usain Bolt.

He’s still yet to fully prove himself, but he’s certainly one to watch.

Youri Tielemans

16

Tielemans has become known for his ferocious striking of the ball, and his current FIFA stats prove it – long shots 87, shot power 93, and he’s still just 19.

His first FUT card might have been moderate, but his IF 82 card shows EA will probably rate him quite highly next year.

Leroy Sane

sane-fut-card

16

To be honest, even we were surprised to dig Leroy Sane’s first FUT card out to see it was just 60. Six zero. 60.

Those silver days were probably justified as Sane would have been only 17 at the time, but those Silver days are well past the Manchester City star now – his recent 82 rated card is a mark of what we might expect in FIFA 18.

Renato Sanches

sanches-fut-card

16

The Portuguese youngster has struggled to get into the brilliant Bayern Munich team he moved to last summer for £35million, but his quality is plain to see.

His rating of 78 might not improve that much, but FIFA handed him a One To Watch card earlier this campaign – so keep your eyes peeled.

Kingsley Coman

kinglsey-coman-fut-card

16

Coman is one of those players who seems to have been around for years, but is still only 20 years old.

The sickeningly young Bayern Munich star started in FIFA 15 with a Silver 67 card, but has developed into a fine left winger, with his FIFA stats reflecting it as such.

Gianluigi Donnarumma

donnarumma-fut-card

16

Speaking of sickeningly young… Gianluigi Donnarumma is the guy when it comes to the best young talent in the world right now.

The 17-year-old AC Milan keeper is now the club’s first choice, has a 84 IF Gold card on FIFA, and was only put into the game for the first time this season. Ridiculous.

Breel Embolo

embolo-fut-card

16

It was such a shame to see Breel Embolo ruled out for the season after just seven games this campaign with a fractured leg, as the young Swiss striker had already made waves throughout Europe.

The 20-year-old had scored 31 goals in 91 games for Basel before moving to Schalke last summer, but his injury has seen his career stall momentarily.

Still, the good news means he should retain his normal FIFA 17 rating of 76, but he’s got the potential to reach the 80s pretty quickly.

Alex Hunter

HUNTER-FUT-CARD

16

The standout success from FIFA 17, one of the most talked about footballers of the past six months is a fictional character.

Alex Hunter is a highly rated young player – but here’s the big question: will be even be in the next game? Will he be called Alex Hunter? And what will his stats be?

We just don’t know yet… but we’re looking forward to finding out.
