You can’t move for talk of the new Black Mirror episode.
It’s a masterful piece of television. Truly groundbreaking. But what really caught our attention was the inclusion of Sugar Puffs.
We were instantly taken back to a time when we’d get home from the weekly shop and rip open a box of Sugar Puffs in search of a piece of plastic gold.
Not got a clue what we’re on about? Well, for a glorious few years, every box of Sugar Puffs included a football shirt pencil topper.
It was a piece of kit that instantly made you king of both the playground and the classroom. Your HB pencil never looked so good.
Embrace your inner child and read on…
Was this a shameful attempt to piggyback on the success of Black Mirror? Quite possibly.
But there’s something to be said for the simpler times when a free toy in a pack of terrible tasting cereal was enough to keep us happy all week.
Sugar Puffs are now Honey Monster Puffs, kids can’t walk five yards without breaking into a Fortnite dance and we’re spiralling towards a time of crippling uncertainty.
Bring on 2019.
