Who was first player Marcus Rashford had on the back of an England kit?
You forget that footballers are also football fans, just like you and I.
Take Marcus Rashford, for example.
The 19-year-old was speaking at the launch of the new England away kit- a stylish navy on navy number.
He can still remember the first England shirt he ever got which, when you think about how young he is, really isn’t that strange.
Rashford, writing in The Players’ Tribune, said: “There was one kit that I will never forget getting, and it wasn’t United or City.
“One night, I came home after a kickabout with my brothers out front. My uncle was over and he had something for me.
“Another football top. Another red football top – he was United all the way.

“I took it from him and looked at it. And that was when I realized that this one was different. On the top left of the chest was a crest with three lions and one gold star.
“My first England shirt. I flipped it over to see if it had a number on the back…. nine… And just above that… Rooney.”
So there you have it. An 8-year-old Rashford receiving his first England shirt. Little did he know that ten years later he’d be playing with him.
Rashford also took to Instagram to reveal what Rooney said in the aftermath of England’s defeat to Iceland.
He said: “We were all sitting around in the dressing room after the match, not sure what to think.
“But then Wayne gets up. And he says one thing. ‘Keep your head up. We’ve got a lot to fight for in the future. Look forward'”
Captain, leader, legend.
But now Rashford will have to take England forward without Rooney’s presence, after Gareth Southgate left the 31-year-old out of his latest squad.
Whatever happens, at least England will be looking stylish.
