The 24-year-old has been a long-time target for the Catalan club, but Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said he won’t sell the player – for any price.
The Anfield club have had to live without the attacking midfielder since November after he was sidelined with ankle ligament damage.
But he looks set to return to the squad on Wednesday night for the EFL Cup clash against Southampton.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the match, Klopp said: “It would be nice if big clubs thought like this and forgot about a player completely because he’s been injured for five or six weeks. But big clubs don’t think this way unfortunately.
“But we never had any ideas or any plans or any talks about this because he is our player and there are no other ideas. And nothing has changed.”
Coutinho has scored six goals and managed five assists in his 14 appearances this season and has helped them challenge at the top-end of the Premier League table, with Liverpool currently five points behind leaders Chelsea.
