Fiorentina captain Davide Astori, who tragically died earlier this month, will remain on FIFA 18, EA has confirmed.
The Italian passed away in his sleep at the age of 31 on March 4.
Astori featured in FIFA 18, but after consultation with his former club, EA Sports confirmed he will stay in the game.
The Italian will not be available in packs, and his price range has been reduced, so more gamers can afford to have him in their teams.
“The FIFA community, along with the entire football world, we are saddened by the passing of Davide Astori,” read a statement on the game.
“After consulting with Fiorentina since Davide’s passing, and to ensure we best honour his legacy, we will be taking the following actions:
“At the request of the club, Davide Astori will remain in the current Fiorentina squad in FIFA.
“Davide Astori FUT items will no longer be available in packs. The max price range of Davide Astori FUT items will be reduced.
“We again send our sincerest sympathies to the family, the entire Fiorentina club, and his fans all around the world. The FIFA team.”
Astori is survived by his partner Francesca and his two-year-old daughter, Vittoria.
