FIFA 18: Everybody is kicking off over Cenk Tosun’s latest FIFA card

"Please tell me this is a joke..."

Cenk Tosun hasn’t had the easiest of starts at Everton – but there are signs he’s starting to find his feet.

Tosun joined the Toffees in a £27m move in January but was used sparingly by Sam Allardyce in his first two months in English football.

The 26-year-old striker has since been brought back into the starting line up and has netted scored four goals in three games, including a double in a 2-1 win over Stoke last Saturday.

Unsurprisingly, the team at EA Sports were keeping a close eye – and rewarded the Turkish international with a place in the latest Team of the Week.

Only, look a bit closer and there’s much more to it than meets the eye.

Keen-eyed FIFA players on Reddit spotted his ‘boosts’ are absolutely minimal – and, in some cases, are worse than his Team of the Group Stage card.

Let’s compare, shall we?

Tosun receives no pace upgrade this time, with an above average (if a little harsh) 77 rating.

Elsewhere, the TOTW card climbs three points to 86 in the shooting attribute but falls down in dribbling and passing.

Defence climbs one point in the TOTW version but physical drops a point from 82 to 81.

Hardly a worthwhile upgrade, bringing the total overall to just two points higher than the TOTG card.

Unsuprisngly, gamers are far from happy and have been kicking off on the FIFA sub-reddit.

One wrote: “P*** poor effort at an upgrade. That is meant to be a SIF level card.”

Another said:  “I use him at the moment being an Everton fan. Please tell me this is a joke and it’ll be updated to an 84 at least?”

Well, there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

According to Futhead, the card has now been updated – and appears with a far more impressive 84 rating.

Pace climbs to 79 while everything else gets a noticeable bump.

Maybe the pressure paid off? We’ll never know.
