Furious FIFA 18 gamers are laying into EA Sports claiming the FUTMas SBCs are ‘daylight robbery’.
FUTMas kicked off last week, and saw EA Sports begin to flood the market with lightning rounds, new pack offers and increased chances of finding in-form players.
However, hundreds of angry fans have flocked to the FIFA sub Reddit claiming the SBCs are not worth the money.
One SBC in particular, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, is coming under fire for its hefty 200,000 coin price tag.
One gamer wrote: “Prices are just dumb – 200k for a Mkhitaryan?! It’s not even a central card, one inform would make it obsolete.
“He’s got a pretty pathetic boost as well, mind you, his normal card is only 15k. No way this card is worth more than 10 times more.
“I’d like to give you a friendly reminder that players like Alexis Sanchez, Marco Reus, and Arjen Robben are far under 100k now. They are all better than Mkhitaryan.
“Then Draxler, who is about 40k. Doesn’t sound expensive but his card is on the wings. He looks pretty lacklustre for a winger card.”
Another wrote: “Not sure what EA is thinking with this shit. None have been worth it so far and don’t think that’s gonna change. Disappointing.”
On the plus side, the promotion is still in its infancy, so we’d expect to see better cards arrive in the coming weeks.
FUTMas is due to run until January 2nd, 2018 – with the best offers arriving on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
What is going to be included in FUTMas this year?
Here’s a detailed breakdown of the likely offers and rewards you’ll see this year:
FIFA 18 FUTMas Offers
A new Promo Pack or Lightning Round every day
New Squad Building Challenges
FUTMas Players Cards
Potential FIFA 18 FUTMas SBC rewards
81+ TOTW Pack
What kind of players should I invest in?
According to FourFourTwo, you should keep your eyes on 83-84-rated gold players, so you can tackle as many SBCs as possible.
Make sure to spread your coins across the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and the Ligue 1 to try to meet the high chemistry requirements.
The idea here is that you pick up as many as possible.
They usually sit between 2,000-4,000 coins, prices that will likely drop even more during FUTMas.
What will be the daily reward? And tell us more about the SBCs.
We’d expect the daily rewards to be special SBC players.
In Forms were required for many of the FUTMas SBCs last year – which will likely result in a price increase as gamers try to snap up as many as possible.
Although tempting, hang on to your IFs and don’t flog them – you’ll find yourself missing out.
Last year’s SBCs had a 24 hour expiry date – so the window will be small.
What about Ultimate Scream?
Make sure to hang on to these – it’s likely they’ll be needed in some SBCs (Same with Movember cards).
If you don’t have any, most will do, but prioritise 83+ rated Scream cards.
Should I invest in the best players?
If you have the money, definitely.
FourFourTwo pick out Franck Ribery, Thiago Alcantara, Mesut Ozil and Samir Handanovic – all of whom can be snapped up for around 18-45k.
When an SBC requires a high-rated squad, these players will go up in value for the duration of the challenge – so can be a quick way of turning over a decent profit.
