FIFA 18 hasn’t even launched yet but already there’s a formation that could work wonders.
Only, it’s not what you think.
It works by crowding the midfield and using players to smoother the opposition.
Given that players are ever so slightly slower off the mark, and that passing is more prone to error this year, the formation works a treat.
The video shows the tactic in full flow as PSG destroy AS Monaco 5-2.
By having more players up front, there are far more options both inside and outside of the box – meaning that defenders have to work much harder.
However, as expected of such a bold move, there are some risks involved.
The main problem is that it leaves you terribly exposed at the back – meaning that you’ll be open to the lofted through ball.
Now, if your defenders are pacy, that shouldn’t matter too much – but if you’re against a fast team then you could be in trouble.
