FIFA 18 fans went crazy earlier in the week after footage appeared to show a FIFA Street mode included in the upcoming game.
The ‘leaked’ video supposedly proved that the popular game mode might be making a welcome return in the new edition.
However, speaking exclusively to Dream Team Gaming, EA has shed some light on the clip – and sadly it’s not the news you were hoping for.
When asked if the footage was FIFA Street, lead gameplay producer Sam Rivera said: “It was probably just The Journey.
“There is no announcement of FIFA Street in FIFA 18.”
Instead, parts of Alex Hunter’s new quest will see him travel to Brazil and play a game of football in a run-down pitch in a favela.

The gameplay has obviously been inspired by FIFA Street – so, while it’s not the full fat offering we were hoping for, it’s certainly better than nothing.
It also gives us a better idea of the depth The Journey 2 will go into as gamers take Alex Hunter on another season’s adventure.
The news will be a hammer blow to fans that were hoping FIFA Street would be making a proper return this year.
Creative director Mat Prior said: “It’s something we’re aware of, and we know people ask us about it, but we’ll see in the future.”
The main reasons why it’s not as easy as putting a new game mode in like FIFA Street is down to the fact that you would have to reduce the pitch size, add in walls/barriers, and essentially change the whole of normal football (rules, teams etc.) to fit in with a different mode.
Prior added at the time: “To do it properly is not a light undertaking. It’s not just a case of shrinking the pitch and bringing in boards because of the way the AI works.”
Remember what they told us: “We’ll see in the future…”
