FIFA 18’s player graphics are so realistic they’re on course to PES 2018’s out of the water.
Leaked footage has found its way online showing off a load of stars in FIFA 18 – from Antoine Griezmann, Ahmed Musa and Romelu Lukaku to Paulo Dybala, Douglas Costa and Radja Nainggolan.
Although the clip is low quality, it’s clear player faces have had a substantial overhaul compared to FIFA 17.
The Frostbite Engine, which returns to the game for its second year, has been heavily modified to allow for more realistic skin tone, movement and detail.
Not that EA is the only one to up its game in this area.
Earlier in the year, a YouTube video revealed the extent to which PES developer Konami has refined player models this year.
Players now boast an insane amount of detail – with Fox Engine capturing every grimace, smile and wince. They even boast their own specific mannerisms.
In the last game, lighting was flat and lifeless compared with FIFA. Player models ranged from the hyper-realistic to the comically bad.
However, this year, Konami has totally overhauled player animation to make movements much closer to real life.
Meanwhile, EA is planning to reveal more details about FIFA 18’s Ultimate Team later this month.
“Ordinary we don’t announce much about Ultimate Team around this time because we’re in the run up to Gamescom – that’s our big FUT showcase,” he said.
Gamescom is Europe’s largest gaming convention, taking place between August 22-26.
