FIFA 18 footage showing a full match has finally made its way online – and early signs are encouraging.
Last night, EA hosted FUT live, in which the developer revealed the changes on the way for this year’s Ultimate Team.
Part of the showcase included a 20-minute match – which saw Real Madrid take on Real Madrid.
And unsurprisingly, there’s one player who everyone had their eyes on. Cristiano Ronaldo.
Although his in-game face perhaps isn’t as spot on as we’d have hoped, it’s clear his movement has been massively improved for FIFA 18.
He’s a tad slower but looks far more effective going forward.
Sadly, he won’t be the game’s best player anymore.
That’s because EA also revealed the FUT ICONS Stories – which will see legends such as Pele, Ronaldo Nazario, Thierry Henry, Lev Yashin and Diego Maradona have three different cards each – all available in FIFA Ultimate Team.
The cards each reflect each different stage of a player’s career – the beginning, their prime and tail-end. A
ll cards have different stats and appearances.
The one standout card is a 98-rated Pele – which eclipses Cristiano Ronaldo’s 94-rated FUT card to become the highest scoring card on FIFA 18.
Other new features for Ultimate Team include:
- Squad Battles – Compete against other squads from the FUT community, move up the leaderboard and tackle the squads of celebrities and pro FIFA players
- Champions Channel – Watch full match replays from the pros
- Objectives – Finish daily and weekly goals, from squad management tasks to in-game challenges to score great FUT rewards
Until now, bar the FIFA 18 cover announcement in June, little has been revealed about the upcoming game – which is due to hit shelves on September 29.
EA is, however, also planning a huge Ultimate Team showcase at this month’s Gamescom expo in Cologne.
“Ordinary we don’t announce much about Ultimate Team around this time because we’re in the run up to Gamescom – that’s our big FUT showcase,” EA producer Matt Prior said.
Gamescom is Europe’s largest gaming convention and takes place between August 22-26.
