FIFA 18: EA just dropped Pele’s ICONS card – and it’s utterly incredible

This risks being the most overpowered card of all time

FIFA 18 fans will be able to play with Brazilian legend, Pele – and he’ll be ridiculously good.

The 95-rated Icons card more than does justice to a player who’s widely regarded as one the greatest ever to play the game.

The Brazilian, who scored more than 600 goals for Santos, boasts 96 pace, 93 shooting, 90 passing and 95 dribbling.

He shares a 95 rating with fellow Icon, Argentine legend Diego Maradona, who’ll also be one of the game’s highest players.

Despite having the same overall rating, though, Pele’s individual stats are actually higher across the board – so will be even more deadly.

Not all the ICONS reveals though have been welcomed.

Earlier today, FIFA 18 fans slammed EA over Thierry Henry’s ICONS rating – claiming it’s far too low. The Frenchman was Arsenal’s all-time leading goalscorer – netting 228 goals in all competitions.

During his time at North London, he scooped  two PFA Player’s Player of the Year awards and two Premier League titles.

However, despite a string of accolades, and the fact he’s regarded as one of the greatest players who has ever lived, EA awarded the striker a less-than-spectacular 90 rating in FIFA 18.

The company is also kicking off FUT LIVE tonight – where they’ll reveal more details about this year’s Ultimate Team.

A few weeks later, EA will unveil a huge Ultimate Team showcase at this month’s Gamescom expo in Cologne.

“Ordinary we don’t announce much about Ultimate Team around this time because we’re in the run up to Gamescom – that’s our big FUT showcase,” EA producer Matt Prior said.

Gamescom is Europe’s largest gaming convention and takes place between August 22-26.
