There’s nothing worse than a decision not going your way – especially when it’s completely unfair.
Unfortunately, this happened all too often in FIFA 17 – and it’s been driving fans mad for months.
Thankfully, FIFA 18 developers are well aware and have vowed that match officials will be vastly improved this year.
“Last year there were strange behaviours in the game, but we are working on it and hope it will not happen soon,” EA producer Matthew Prior told Kicker eSport.
Prior admitted the bizarre decisions seen in FIFA 17 are directly linked to the Frostbite engine.
Although the engine is ‘very correct’ for the most part, there are some in-game situations that ‘look worse than they actually are’ – and this could be affecting referee decisions.
After the FIFA 18 cover announcement in June, little more has been revealed about the upcoming game – due to hit shelves on September 29.
EA is, however, planning a huge Ultimate Team showcase at next month’s Gamescom expo in Cologne.
“Ordinary we don’t announce much about Ultimate Team around this time because we’re in the run up to Gamescom – that’s our big FUT showcase,” Prior said.
Gamescom is Europe’s largest gaming convention, taking place between August 22-26.
