FIFA 18: How Alexandre Lacazette signing for Arsenal will affect the new game

The Frenchman has joined the Gunners for a record £47m fee... but what does it mean for FIFA 18?

Arsenal have just signed Alexandre Lacazette for a club record £47m fee.

The Frenchman, 26, will now be plying his trade in one of the hardest leagues in the world – and be expected to deliver big results.

But what does this mean for FIFA 18?

Futhead has looked into just that, and picked out exactly how his signing will affect the new game.

Let’s take a look.

Strong links

Chemistry in FIFA Ultimate Team is incredibly important, so having another Frenchman joining the likes of Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante et al. is a huge coup.

Anthony Martial and Loic Remy are two other players that Lacazette will have instant chemistry with.

That’s not forget fellow teammate (for now) Olivier Giroud – who, if partnered with Lacazette up front could create a deadly combination for the Gunners.

He’ll be affordable

Believe it or not, Laca’s base level 85 card only costs around 20,000 coins in FIFA 17 – according to the latest Futbin data.

With that, you get 86 pace, 84 dribbling and 84 shooting. Not bad at all.

Now, this pales in comparison with his incredible 95-rated Team of the Season card, but does suggest that he’ll be more affordable than other Premier League strikers.

Take Sergio Aguero’s base card (89 rated), for instance, which comes in for an eye-watering 100,000. Alexis Sanchez’s 87 rated base costs a hefty 40,000 – 50,000 coins, too.

We’d expect a bump in Laca’s ratings in FIFA 18, which may cause his price to increase – but he could well become one of the most popular strikers in the game.

What could Laca’s FIFA 18 card look like?

This is a tricky one to call – it’ll almost certainly be better than his FIFA 17 base card, but won’t be quite as good as his top-rated TOTS.

We’d expect pace to climb to 92, dribbling to 92 and and shooting to 93.

Elsewhere, passing will probably hover around the 89 mark, defence will be in the 40s, while his physical score will be in the high 80s.

All this will help give him a rating of 91. In short, he’ll be a weapon.

Ones to watch hype

Arsene Wenger will hope Lacazette can fire Arsenal back into the Champions League

According to Futbin, if Ones to watch returns in the same form as last season then Lacazette would be top of many people’s wish lists.

Given his recent form, and his undoubtedly winning combination with Mesut Ozil, Futhead believes it’s safe to assume that ‘black-and-gold Premier League upgraded items will be in his not-too-distant future’.

So, how much will FIFA 18 actually cost?

FIFA 18 will cost around £49.99 – but given the demand, some outlets may undercut this.

We expect the cheapest the game will go for at launch to be around £45.
