Lionel Messi is widely regarded as the greatest football player on the planet.
But would he still be the best if Pele was at the top of his game and playing in La Liga?
YouTuber BMOnus decided to find out using FIFA 17 Career Mode.
To conduct the experiment, he placed Pele in Real Madrid – lining up alongside the likes of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.
To ensure accuracy, BMOnus duplicated all of Pele’s stats from his FIFA Ultimate Team card.
So, how did he get on?
Halfway through the season and it’s Ronaldo who’s netted the most La Liga goals, with 10.
But, crucially, Pele nets 7 – one more than Lionel Messi.
The top of the table is equally as close with Real Madrid in first place with 36, and Barca nipping at their heels with 35.
It’s all to play for.
Come the end of the season, Messi has pulled it out the bag.
The Argentine nets an incredible 21 goals – to become to La Liga’s top scorer.
Ronaldo’s in second place with 20, while Pele’s all the way down in 12 place with 12 goals.
It’s not all one-way traffic though, as look who tops the table for most assists.
Ultimately, Messi’s Barca have the last laugh and finish top of the table – with Madrid in second spot.
So, there you have it.
According to FIFA, not even Ronaldo and Pele could stop Messi being the best.
