FIFA 18: 9 stars who could see their ratings downgraded

Some stars could be in for a nasty shock in EA SPORTS next football game

FIFA 18 may be a few months away but already fans are discussing which players will see changes in their ratings.

While some will be deserving of a boost, others have fallen short of their lofty FIFA 17 scores – and could be in line for a downgrade.

We pick out nine players we think could see their ratings slashed in FIFA 18.

Let’s kick off.

Paul Pogba

The Frenchman has had a mixed season at Manchester United – some days performing at his mercurial best, other days he’s well off the pace.

His 88 rating on talent alone is justified, but he needs to show more consistency in form.

We think he’ll drop down to an 87 rating – losing points in dribbling and defence.

Claudio Bravo

The Manchester City keeper has a dreadful season at the club – and already saw his FIFA 17 overall score downgraded during the Ratings Refresh period.

We don’t think he’ll go into the 70s but he’ll lose three points to sit at 80.

Hatem Ben Arfa

Ben Arfa may have been brilliant at Nice, but at PSG he’s a bit of an outcast.

In fact, the 30-year-old spends more time on the bench than on the pitch these days.

Surely that 83 rating will take a knock?

Daniel Sturridge

The Liverpool man has only played a handful of games this season, making him vulnerable to a downgrade.

Expect lower scores in pace and shooting – not to mention an overall rating slipping by around two points.

Per Mertesacker

The Arsenal defender is one of the slowest players in FIFA 17, but he’ll get even slower in FIFA 18.

He’s had a hit and miss season at the Gunners, often missing games through injury.

Expect the German’s 83 rating drop to 80 – at least.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Dare we say it? The FIFA 18 cover star could well be slightly worse than the year before.

Don’t worry, he’ll still be utterly incredible – after all, he’s just had one of the best seasons of his career.

That being said,  some fans believe his FIFA 17 card was a little too good.

We wouldn’t be surprised if Ronaldo had small downgrades in his pace and dribbling as the 32-year-old begins to slow down.

We’re talking very small – a point or two here and there.

On the plus side, some gamers are adamant that EA boosts his weak foot ability in FIFA 18.

Another Portuguese star who was part of the Euro 2016 winning team.

Sadly, the Real Madrid defender’s game time has been limited of late – putting his 88 rating at risk.

The 34-year-old will likely see his pace hit hardest – with his overall dropping a few points from 88 to 84.

Mesut Ozil

Another player who has had a very mixed season.

In FIFA 17, he went up to an 89-rated CAM – but we doubt it’ll stay there in FIFA 18.

The German has a tendency to go missing in big games, and his temperament can sometimes hold him back.

He’ll drop a few points to around 86-87.

John Terry

The Chelsea legend may be leaving the club but he still has another season or two in him yet.

Sadly, he’s barely played this season and looks someway off the pace.

His rating will drop to around the 79-80 mark.
