Which teams have the most favourable fixtures in May?

We’re into the final month of the season!

Trophies are set to be distributed and, more importantly, Dream Team mini-leagues will be decided.

Transfers will be refreshed this Friday as gaffers make their final tweaks in hope of getting over the line.

As always, the schedule will play its part and so we’ve highlighted the remaining fixtures for the top-half teams below for your perusal.

Guess who?

MAN CITY

  • PSG (h)
  • Chelsea (h)
  • Newcastle (a)
  • Brighton (a)
  • Everton (h)
  • Champions League final? (n)

The Champions League semi-final second leg takes place just hours after this article was published – hence why we’ve put a question mark after their potential final showdown in Istanbul.

In truth, no opponent will scare Pep Guardiola’s side in current form but they did struggle against Chelsea last time around.

The Etihad has been a constant source of points and there’s no reason to expect anything different in May.

MAN UNITED

  • Roma (a)
  • Aston Villa (a)
  • Leicester (h)
  • Liverpool (h)
  • Fulham (h)
  • Wolves (a)
  • Europa League final? (n)

There’s almost certainly no need for the question mark here after the Red Devils thrashed Roma 6-2 in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final.

We’ve pencilled in Liverpool’s trip to Old Trafford before Man United host Fulham but the rearrangement of the postponed fixture has not been officially confirmed at the time of writing.

With six games after the transfer refresh, Bruno Fernandes (£5.2m) and co will be very popular in May.

Finishing on a high?

LEICESTER

  • Newcastle (h)
  • Man United (a)
  • Chelsea (n)
  • Chelsea (a)
  • Spurs (h)

It’s a really tough run-in for the Foxes, compounded by back-to-back clashes against Chelsea because of the FA Cup final.

Kelechi Iheanacho (£4.1m) fears no opponent in current form but the fans may be concerned about the possibility of a second consecutive capitulation in search of Champions League qualification – they should enough to secure a top-four finish.

CHELSEA

  • Real Madrid (h)
  • Man City (a)
  • Arsenal (h)
  • Leicester (n)
  • Leicester (h)
  • Aston Villa (a)
  • Champions League final? (n)

Another run-in that requires the players’ full attention.

Similarly to Man City, they have been in such an impressive groove recently that the points shouldn’t dry up despite a testing climax.

All eyes on Wednesday’s clash at Stamford Bridge.

WEST HAM

  • Everton (h)
  • Brighton (a)
  • West Brom (a)
  • Southampton (h)

Just the four games left for the Hammers this season but relatively favourable match-ups – all four opponents are currently below them in the league table.

However, with potentially three games fewer than Man United, you probably don’t want to go all-in on West Ham.

SPURS

  • Leeds (a)
  • Wolves (h)
  • Aston Villa (h)
  • Leicester (a)

Harry Kane (£7.3m), Son Heung-min (£4.5m) and Gareth Bale (£4.5m) have proved themselves capable of dismantling under-par defences and with three mid-table teams up next, they could finish the campaign with a deluge of points.

LIVERPOOL

  • Southampton (h)
  • West Brom (a)
  • Man United (a)
  • Burnley (a)
  • Crystal Palace (h)

Again, the trip to Old Trafford is pencilled in without official confirmation so don’t take this as gospel just yet.

And that’s the only fixture that will truly trouble Jurgen Klopp’s men – four bottom-half opponents constitutes a favourable final month.

EVERTON

  • West Ham (a)
  • Aston Villa (a)
  • Sheffield United (h)
  • Wolves (h)
  • Man City (a)

The Toffees are without a win in eight games in all competitions so you’d have to say there are no easy fixtures for them right now.

Plenty of Dream Team gaffers will retain their faith in Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£3.8m) until the final week but it’s hard to justify many other Goodison Park residents at the moment.

ARSENAL

  • Villarreal (h)
  • West Brom (h)
  • Chelsea (a)
  • Crystal Palace (a)
  • Brighton (h)
  • Europa League final? (n)

A spot in the Europa League final is far from guaranteed after a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Unai Emery’s Villarreal in the first leg of the semi-final.

If the Gunners can rectify the situation this week then their schedule looks somewhat appealing but if not it may signal a premature end to the campaign for all intents and purposes.

ASTON VILLA

  • Man United (h)
  • Everton (h)
  • Crystal Palace (a)
  • Spurs (a)
  • Chelsea (h)

A welcome win at the weekend doesn’t disguise the fact the Villains’ form has nosedived since Jack Grealish’s (£4.5m) injury.

And with only one game against an opponent currently below them in the table left to play, a strong finish will require a significant effort.

Still, Ollie Watkins (£3.7m) continues to provide decent returns for his owners.

We previously mentioned Leeds’ relatively favourable May but a lacklustre showing against Brighton has partially closed that avenue.

Keep an eye on how Marcelo Bielsa’s side respond against Spurs this weekend but it’s possible the returns of Patrick Bamford (£3.4m) and co are behind us this season.
