You probably forgot for a while but Christian Pulisic really is an exhilarating footballer

Christian Pulisic (£2.6m) missed 26 games for Chelsea because of injury in 2020.

You can wax lyrical all you want about the American’s form or lack thereof over the last year but such misfortune is impossible to overlook.

Only in recent weeks has he looked completely niggle-free and, not coincidentally, we have been reminded of his considerable talent on the ball.

A fully-fit Pulisic is one of the best dribblers in Europe, something Porto countered by kicking lumps out of him for 90 minutes straight on Tuesday night as Thomas Tuchel’s side progressed to the semi-finals of the Champions League despite a 1-0 defeat on the night.

The 22-year-old enjoyed himself far more at the weekend when he inspired the Blues to a convincing 4-1 win over an admittedly flat Crystal Palace with a brace.

Pulisic banked 18 points at Selhurst Park, accounting for 32.7% of total points for the season.

Dream Team gaffers have been keen to back the former Borussia Dortmund winger but they have rarely had their faith repaid.

But could that change as the season comes to a dramatic conclusion?

Putting the 5-2 loss to West Brom to one side for a moment, Chelsea have been defensively resolute since Tuchel’s appointment but sparkling attacking football has been at a premium.

Against Palace, we saw that they have what it takes to put lesser opposition to the sword with style and Pulisic was a key contributor to their entertaining swagger, alongside Kai Havertz (£2.7m).

With Chelsea hunting trophies on two fronts while simultaneously fighting for a top-four finish, Pulisic could enjoy a prosperous end to the 2020/21 season — as could his 7% ownership.

Both Havertz and Pulisic are midfielders currently priced under £3.0m who are now seemingly their side’s most-likely goal threats.

And if the latter can survive a kicking from Pepe and co then that would suggest his body has suitably recovered.
