The king is dead. Long live the king.
Harry Kane (£7.0m) has sat atop the Dream Team rankings for the vast majority of the season but this weekend he was dethroned by Bruno Fernandes (£5.5m).
After the Spurs centre-forward blanked against West Ham, Man United’s talismanic midfielder scored and assisted (just about) at home to Newcastle on his way to nine points.
That haul took Fernandes to 236 for the season, two more than Kane has at this stage.

Of course things could all change again in the coming days as the fixtures continue to come thick and fast, particularly for Spurs and Man United, but it’s worth acknowledging the Portuguese’s efforts.
Just two weeks ago it appeared as if Kane was in a bracket of his own but Fernandes has gained an incredible 40 points in his last three outings.
While Jose Mourinho’s main man has failed to add to his tally in the same time frame, with blanks against Man City and the Hammers coming either side of a Europa League fixture for which he was rested.
Kane remains Dream Team’s best forward but he’s now just 23 points ahead of Marcus Rashford (£5.2m) after the 23-year-old’s Star Man showing against Newcastle on Sunday night.
As for Fernandes, the closest midfielder to him is Phil Foden (£4.4m) who is some 88 points behind!
A quick glance at the upcoming fixtures suggest Kane may be able to regain top spot in the coming weeks.
Spurs face Burnley, Fulham, Crystal Palace and Arsenal in their next four league games while Man United play Chelsea, Palace, Man City and West Ham.
This seemingly favourable period for Kane may be negated by the overall form of his own team, who have slipped to 9th in the table.
Will Fernandes end 2020/21 as Dream Team’s top points scorer? He’s going about it the right way…
