INJURY CRISIS

All of your favourite Dream Team strikers are injured… but we have the solution

Your favourite fantasy football strikers are dropping like flies.

First it was Harry Kane, who suffered a torn hamstring on New Year’s Day and looks set to miss the rest of the season (and maybe even England’s Euro 2020 campaign).

Then there was the loss of in-form Marcus Rashford, who could be out for up to three months as he recuperates from a back injury.

And now there’s two more concerning setbacks, with Tammy Abraham and Jamie Vardy each succumbing to injury in Game Week 21.

Tammy, who’s been one of the surprise stars of Dream Team this season, limped off of Chelsea’s draw against Arsenal with an ankle problem, while Vardy was taken off before halftime in Leicester’s win over West Ham on Wednesday evening.

The Foxes’ talisman is the Premier League’s top scorer this season and there were initially concerns he’d injured his hamstring, although manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed the knock is “not too serious”.

Either way, that’s four Dream Team legends currently out of action and that’s a very big problem for the vast majority of you.

Kane, Rashford, Abraham and Vardy have been four of the most picked players on the game this season, so plenty of you will be seeking a ready-made replacement, or two.

Perhaps the obvious solution is Sergio Aguero, who’s been in terrific form in recent weeks.

The Man City striker is currently the fourth-best player on Dream Team with 166 points, thanks in part to the 50 points he picked up in Game Weeks 20 and 21.

Aguero has been his usual brilliant self in recent weeks

The only drawback with Aguero is the upcoming run of games that City have, which includes a double-header of FA Cup and Carabao Cup games in the space of three days, followed by trips to Spurs, Leicester and Real Madrid.

A player with considerably ‘easier’ fixtures ahead of him is Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who’ll be back in contention for the Gunners’ trip to Burnley after serving the third-match of his suspension at Bournemouth this weekend.

Mikel Arteta’s side, who are unbeaten in their last five matches, have a relatively kind run of fixtures on the horizon, which includes home games against Newcastle, Everton, Olympiacos and West Ham.

In fact, in their next 10 games, only their trip to Man City on March 1 feels considerably tricky.

Auba returns soon

With 14 goals in the Premier League this season, Auba is currently the highest scoring uninjured striker around and he’ll naturally be fresh for the month of February after missing the last three games through suspension.

Another obvious choice at the moment is Raul Jimenez of Wolves.

The Mexican has enjoyed another sensational campaign with the Prem’s Iberian-flavoured favourites, netting 10 times so far and aiding his team further with six assists.

While the story of Wolves’ season so far is undoubtedly the brilliance of Adama Traore, Jimenez’s continued excellence still deserves plenty of recognition.

And, in terms of fantasy football, he’s considerably cheaper than the aforementioned duo.
