Sergio Aguero’s lengthy injury is seriously bad news for your Dream Team

We have some bad news for you, Dream Team fans.

Sergio Aguero is set to be out “for a few weeks” with a thigh injury, according to Man City boss Pep Guardiola.

You might’ve seen the striker limping off the pitch towards the end of City’s 2-1 win over Chelsea on Saturday and he looks set to miss a handful of their upcoming games, including the Manchester derby on December 7.

In a press conference today, Guardiola said Aguero will “need a miracle” to be fit for the clash with United at the Etihad Stadium.

This revelation is particularly bad for all of you fantasy football managers out there, as the Argentinian is a firm favourite on Dream Team this season — having picked up 100 points.

He’s also the fifth-most picked player — with over 46% of managers selecting him — and is currently worth £7.5m, making him our second-most expensive player (with Aguero’s City teammate Raheem Sterling slightly dearer at £7.7m).

Aguero’s spell on the sidelines means it’s probably a good idea to transfer him out of your team for the time being.

As you know, games will be coming thick and fast over the next few weeks; with the final few Champions League group matches squished around the crazy festive fixture list.

Keeping hold of an injured striker, especially at this time of year, would be a seriously bad idea.

Luckily for you, we have three relatively decent Aguero-shaped replacements in mind for your team.

The obvious choice is Gabriel Jesus; the Brazilian forward who contests the striker-role with Aguero at City.

Jesus is priced at just £4.1m — a pinch compared to Aguero — but he’s only notched 54 points on Dream Team this season having mostly played second-fiddle to the Argentinian.

In fact, he’s only played a total of 34 minutes in City’s last two Prem fixtures and has seemingly only started against their ‘lesser’ opponents, such as recent games against Southampton and Aston Villa.

In total, he’s notched five goals in all competitions — including three in the Prem — but with Aguero out of action for the next few games he’s sure to boost those numbers.

If Jesus doesn’t take your fancy, then why not look across the city of Manchester to Man United’s Marcus Rashford?

Rashy is in hot form right now, having netted six goals since United’s draw with Liverpool in the middle of October — that includes an excellent brace in the Carabao Cup clash with Chelsea.

He’s also scored three goals in England’s last three matches, proving his form isn’t just restricted to club games.

What’s even better is that Rashford is slightly cheaper than Jesus at the moment, coming in at just £4m.

Vardy is the Premier League’s top scorer this season with 12 goals

Of course, you could look at two other Englishmen who’ve found goals easy to come by recently; Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham and the age-defying Jamie Vardy.

The pair lead the way at the top of the Premier League’s goal-scorer chart this season, with Vardy bagging 12 goals ahead of Tammy’s 10.

However, the Blues youngster is the best striker you can pick on Dream Team with 109 points so far, just a little more than Vardy’s haul of 104.

Both players are reasonably affordable if you’re looking to transfer out Aguero; with Abraham one of the best bargains around at just £2.8m.

So, who takes your fancy?
