Everyone’s wrapping up their pre-season preparations.
Now that we’ve got the Community Shield out of the way, we’re counting down the minutes until the opening game between Liverpool and Norwich on August 9.
But while we’re sizing up who to pick for our Dream Team, it’s perhaps worth looking at which players enjoyed a productive preseason and enter the new season in great form…
1 Ross Barkley – £2.0m
Chelsea enter the new season having recruited just two new faces – which is impressive, considering they’re in the midst of a transfer ban.
All eyes are on Christian Pulisic – the big-money signing bought from Borussia Dortmund at the beginning of the year – and Mateo Kovacic, who’s loan deal became permanent.
But it’s Ross Barkley who’s made a name for himself during pre-season, looking better than ever in the No.10 role with FOUR goals over the summer – including a handy winner against Barcelona.
2 Aaron Wan-Bissaka – £3.5m
Man United have certainly splashed the cash to strengthen their defence this summer, having finalised the deal for Harry Maguire on Monday following their splurge on Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
And unlike Maguire, AWB has had the opportunity of bedding into his new surroundings by enjoying a full pre-season, and the former Crystal Palace full-back has shone on several occasions, picking up Player of the Match on a handful of occasions.
3 Raheem Sterling – £6.5m
Raheem Sterling was undoubtedly one of the Premier League’s most eye-catching players in 2018/19 and ruled the roost when it came to fantasy football.
In fact, only Eden Hazard scored more points than the Man City winger on Dream Team last season.
And having shone in City’s Community Shield win over Liverpool at the weekend, we’re already predicting another strong campaign ahead for him.

4 Harry Kane – £7.0m
Some of you might be second-guessing Harry Kane this summer, with the Spurs striker suffering an injury-ravaged 2018/19 season.
Then of course there’s the whole ‘August curse’, which of course he broke last season.
But the fact of the matter is, the England skipper has hit the ground running during pre-season, netting against both Juventus and Real Madrid in friendlies to give us a taster of things to come in the Premier League this term.
5 Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – £6.0m
All of Arsenal’s attention so far this summer has been their pursuit of a new defender and the signing of Nicolas Pepe.
But with all of that going on, the ever-reliable goalscorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been preparing for the season ahead in the only way he knows how.. by scoring goals, of course.
PEA’s netted against Real Madrid, Lyon and Barcelona this summer – with the goal at the Nou Camp an absolute peach – and there’s no doubt that he’ll be a firm favourite on Dream Team.
