Some of our Dream Team heroes are fizzling out.
The Premier League season is nearing it’s conclusion and it’s safe to say Arsenal are definitely running out of steam.
The Gunners had the top four within their grasp, but three successive defeats (and three goals conceded in each one) has scuppered everything.
And Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s form is a crippling subplot.
Aubameyang has managed just two attacking points returns on Dream Team in his last seven appearances, whilst he also sat out the defeat to Wolves last week.
Hardly settling the world alight like he was at the start of the season.
We stuck our necks on the line and tipped Aubameyang as the one player you definitely needed back in August.
While he sits eighth in the overall points rankings, he hasn’t really reached the heights we predicted.
It’s testament to how prolific he was that the Gabon striker is still in with a sniff of the Premier League Golden Boot, sitting just two behind Mo Salah.
But it could have been so much more, with Aubameyang guilty of missing more clear-cut chances than anyone else in the top flight.
Yo Pierre… learn to keep your composure.
Aubameyang averages 21 points in Arsenal’s last eight games – he earned 19 in the Europa League win over Rennes alone.
So for the 29.9% of you who own him, is it a case of stick or twist?
Well the Gunners play Brighton and Burnley in the Premier League which Auba should enjoy, while two legs against Valencia also provides more opportunities.
But Burnley looks like another potential banana skin given Arsenal’s terrible away form and only Getafe have conceded fewer goals than Los Che in La Liga this season.
At £5.7m he’s neither overly expensive nor cheap as chips, but we would suggest Sadio Mane as a better alternative if you can find room for another midfielder.
With your May transfers dropping this Friday, it might be time to move on from the Gunners’ front man.
