Fantasy football tips: Hector Bellerin is fast becoming a must-have defender

Arsenal are crunching into gear under Unai Emery and Bellerin is a huge part of it

The dust has settled on the weekend’s football and Arsenal have come out shining.

The Gunners’ 5-1 thrashing of Fulham at Craven Cottage extended their winning run to nine games and everything is beginning to look rosy under Unai Emery.

The attacking line are beginning to pure and Alexandre Lacazette has fought his way back from injury to stake his claim as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s partner rather than understudy.

Aaron Ramsey might be on his way out of the club either in the summer or earlier but he came on to score one of the best goals you will see this season.

And although clean sheets aren’t always a guarantee as far as Arsenal are concerned, Hector Bellerin is beginning to look like a must-have defender for your Dream Team.

The Spanish right back is operating as a flying wing back in Emery’s system and it means when the Gunners are in full flow he is often one of the furthest forward players on the pitch.

It leaves holes defensively but to really get ahead of your mini-league you need defenders that are picking up points at both ends of the field.

At £3.1m Bellerin isn’t exactly a bargain find, but the upturn in Arsenal’s form has seen a direct correlation with his boosted points total.

After the fifth game of the season against Newcastle Bellerin must have been wondering how his grand total amounted to zero points.

However, since picking up eight points for a clean sheet and +7 WhoScored.com rating against Everton, Bellerin has been steadily delivering a good return.

His season average points haul is way down at 2.3pts per page, but when you look at the last three games it rises to 6pts per game.

With Aubameyang and Lacazette beginning to look like the most dangerous strike partnership in the league, all those balls from the right flank could suddenly transform into juicy assist points.

For reference to Bellerin’s attacking mindset, look how far forward he is during Ramsey’s wonder-goal against Fulham (see Lacazette’s position also).

The Gunners have four winnable fixtures in the shape of: Leicester at home, Sporting CP and Crystal Palace away and Blackpool at the Emirates before they welcome Liverpool for a huge league match.

Whether it’s clean sheet bonuses, +7 ratings or assists at the other end Bellerin definitely comes in at the cheaper end of the spectrum compared to Marcos Alonso (£5.2m), Kyle Walker (£4.9m) or Harry Maguire (£4.2m).

Bellerin is also severely under-selected with just 2.4% of Dream Team managers opting for the Arsenal man.

You know what to do.
