Fantasy football: What will Jean Michael Seri bring to the Premier League next season?

Fulham have pulled off one of the signings of the summer by bringing Jean Michael Seri to Craven Cottage – and fantasy football fans should be just as excited.

The Ivorian midfielder has joined the newly promoted club from Ligue 1 side Nice, in a club-record deal believed to be worth around £30million.

Having become one of the most sought-after midfielders in Europe, Seri had been linked with a move to a host of top clubs, including Barcelona, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Known as a specialist in ball retention, according to Dream Team’s ratings provider WhoScored, the Ivorian finished with the most accurate passes (2328) in Ligue 1 last season.

Seri is likely to be deployed as a deep-lying play maker and will be crucial in Fulham’s attempts to create chances and upset the league’s big boys.

The 26-year-old will link the play from deep and keep things ticking over, allowing club captain Tom Cairney to express himself further forward.

It seems as though Seri was never going to get his move away from Nice.

Barcelona made a dramatic u-turn on signing the midfielder last summer after they had agreed to pay his £40million release clause.

Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham were all reported to have held talks with Seri this summer.

The fact that so many clubs wanted him makes it a significant coup for Fulham and could also be one for your Dream Team.

What could Seri bring to your fantasy football team?

Seri’s standout season came in 2016/2017, when his stock rose drastically following consistent performances in Ligue 1.

In that season, according to WhoScored, the Nice midfielder was one of the best players in Ligue 1 at 7.23.

Seri also chipped in with an impressive seven goals and nine assists that term.

His form however did drop last season at 6.92. Despite his downturn, Seri still managed a respectable two goals and five assists in France’s top flight.

Seri is likely to be one of the signings of the summer transfer window.

The Ivorian will have a point to prove having finally taken the step up to the Premier League and is guaranteed to chip in with goals and assists in Dream Team.

So, what will he cost on Dream Team?

He’s yet to be priced up on Dream Team, however we’d estimate Fulham’s new man to be valued at around the £3m mark, judging on the prices of Nemanja Matic and Fernandinho last season.
