Fantasy football: 5 players you really should AVOID for that end of season push

There’s just a handful of games to go until the end of the Premier League season.

Which means you really need to get your fantasy football line-up looking it’s best for that final push.

Jamie Vardy – £6.0m

Everything was going so well at Leicester this season, with Claude Puel guiding the Foxes to a nailed-on top-half finish after replacing Craig Shakespeare back in October.

But in recent weeks, his players have looked distracted and somewhat uninterested – with results taking an alarming turn for the worst.

That 5-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at the weekend was an absolute nightmare and saw usually-reliable fantasy football favourites like Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and Harry Maguire well off the mark.

We don’t know what’s happening at that club, but we’re taking the Leicester players out of our Dream Team just to be safe.

Xherdan Shaqiri – £2.7m

Stoke might stay up this season, but we’re not betting on it.

The Potters are currently second-from-bottom with only two games to go, and will be heavily leaning on their star man Shaqiri to get them out of jail.

Can he do it?

The Switzerland international really is a great player, but we doubt even he can produce the miracles needed to keep them afloat.

What’s more, in recent games he’s struck us as someone who’s almost given up.

Get ‘im out, we reckon.

Alvaro Morata – £3.4m

Morata’s back in the Chelsea squad following his problems with injury and he even netted against Spurs and Southampton this month.

But his problems with form and fitness means he’s well and truly behind Olivier Giroud in Chelsea’s pecking order.

And with the Blues hunting down a place in the top-four, we fully expect the Frenchman to start ahead of Morata in their upcoming games – so it’s probably best to take him out.

Huddersfield’s tough-tackling centre-back was a favourite among fantasy football managers at the start of the season, given his early brilliance and bargain price.

But with the Terriers facing a grim run of games until the end of the season – trips to Man City and Chelsea included – we think it’s best to take this guy out of your team.

Richarlison – £1m

Remember this guy?

We went a little bit potty for Richarlison at the start of the season, especially after he netted five goals by November.

But since then, he’s seemed a little out of it and has struggled to replicate that excellent start-of-season form.

What’s more, new Watford boss Javi Gracia has failed to get the same performances out of him that Marco Silva did, and that’s why he’s long-gone from out Dream Team line-up.
