The fantasy football machine keeps motoring on.

And while the official Premier League game settles down for over a week, Dream Team is just getting going with two cup competitions on the agenda this week.

The League Cup semi-final second legs and the FA Cup fourth round fixtures at the weekend means there’s still plenty of points at stake while the Premier League takes a small break.

But what did we learn from the last few days?

1 The return of Hazard

About time, Eden.

It’s safe to say Hazard’s recent form hasn’t been up to the lofty standards we expect.

The brilliant Belgian had registered more than 10 points in a game just once since early December until the weekend.

But he more than made up for it, delivering a virtuoso display against a helpless Brighton side who were left chasing his coat tails.

18 points is a pretty return for Hazard, who took his season tally to 173.

2 Martial rewards the faith

Nice timing, Anthony

Anthony Martial was the top transferred in player on Dream Team this week, just ahead of Virgil van Dijk.

And he justified his popularity with another positive points return against Burnley.

His match-winning goal means he’s either scored or assisted in his last four appearances after a completely fruitless seven games beforehand.

Martial is coming into form just in time too considering the imminent arrival of Alexis Sanchez at Manchester United.

3 Sanchez leaves as Arsenal’s highest points scorer

Sanchez is the only Arsenal player to break three figures on Dream Team

Sanchez is expected to complete his move to Old Trafford in a matter of hours rather than days.

And the 29-year-old will leave Arsenal as their highest points scorer on Dream Team this season and the only Gunners star to break the 100-point barrier.

It means Nacho Monreal – fresh off the back of his 17-point haul against Crystal Palace at the weekend – is Arsenal’s leading light on 94, just ahead of Shkodran Mustafi (93).

Stay tuned over the coming days to see what kind of price Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can expect to be on the game, should Arsenal get the deal over the line…

4 Aguero underlines January worth

One man’s pain is another man’s gain – and Sergio Aguero has really taken Gabriel Jesus’ injury by the scruff of the neck.

The Manchester City hitman has assumed the goalscoring responsibility while the Brazilian is sidelined and grabbed yet another hat-trick against Newcastle on Saturday.

We explained at the start of the month how crucial Aguero would be in January and he’s emphatically underlined why in recent weeks.

That Magpies treble took his points tally to 62 points from five appearances this month with a further three games still to come.

5 Davies brings up his century

Ben Davies has been Tottenham’s secret weapon this season with the Welshman fully capitalising on Danny Rose’s uncertain future.

Davies has lapped up playing a little further forward at left wing-back, registering two goals and four assists in the league this season.

One of those four assists came in the 1-1 draw at Southampton and took his Dream Team points tally into three figures.

Only five Spurs players have scored higher this season.
