This was more like it.
Liverpool have huffed and puffed in recent weeks, winning just one of their last eight games in all competitions.
But against Maribor – who let’s be honest were like a pub team at times – the Jurgen Klopp machine clicked into gear again and their front three ran riot.
Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah both scored twice while Philippe Coutinho made it four goals in as many away games as the Reds ran riot.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Trent Alexander-Arnold then scored in the latter stages as Klopp’s side rather romped away with a 7-0 win.
That thumping result puts Liverpool top of Group E on goal difference after Sevilla suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat at Spartak Moscow.
While the Reds’ goalscoring trio will take much of the plaudits, social media was keen to recognise the performance a man who doesn’t like the limelight.
Milner was back in the midfield after a couple of games out injured and was instrumental, so much so that some fans were comparing him to a certain Barcelona legend.
