Bournemouth finally secured their first win of the season after beating fellow seasiders Brighton in an entertaining 2-1 win at the Vitality Stadium.
And who better to score the Cherries vital winner than Jermain Defoe?
The England striker, who joined Eddie Howe’s side over the summer from Sunderland, scored his first goal of the season with a classic Defoe-esque swivel and shoot manoeuvre in the box.
And by doing so, secured an impressive record of scoring against 36 of the 39 teams he’s played against in the Premier League.
In case you’re wondering, the former West Ham and Spurs striker has yet to score against Sheffield United (2 apps), Leeds (4 apps) and Watford (6 apps).
Having already played (and lost) against Watford this season, Defoe will have another crack at netting against the Hornets in March.
We’re not particularly sure if or when he’ll ever get a chance to face Sheff Utd or Leeds again, though.
If you’re a fan of Defoe-related stats, then tonight’s your night.
Defoe’s goal was his 20th for Bournemouth, coming 5,977 days after his 19th back in May 2001.
