Who has a better 7-a-side team out of Man City and Liverpool?
There is a reason behind the question. This weekend sees City host Liverpool, but if your fantasy football team is already down the pan, fear not.
You can play Dream Team Weekender, a game in which you pick a 7-a-side team with no budget and no limits on the amount of players you can pick from one Premier League team.
If you wanted you could pick seven players from City, or seven players from Liverpool.
But, if it came down to it, who would make each 7-a-side team?
Let’s find out.
There’s no debate between the sticks, where Ederson comfortably keeps out Claudio Bravo having conceded just two goals in his opening three games for City.
But the fierce competition in City’s defence means some big names have been left out.
We’ve gone with a back two of Kyle Walker and Nicolas Otamendi, given Vincent Kompany has been struggling with a knock during international break and John Stones isn’t certain to start.
You could go with any number of combinations in midfield, but we’ve chosen assist king Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva, who’s looking in the form of his career under Pep Guardiola.
Arguments could be made for Leroy Sane, who’s devastating if, and it’s a big if, he starts, as well as Bernardo Silva, who looks a supreme technician.
Some may yet to be convinced of Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero’s ability to play up front together, but we trust them to do the job and complete City’s 7-a-side team.
As with City, Liverpool seem to have settled on a no.1 in Simon Mignolet, although Jurgen Klopp’s decision to ‘rest’ him against Arsenal was slightly bizarre.
With the constant chopping and changing at full-back we’ve plumped for certain starters in Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip, as there’s nothing worse than having non-starters in your fantasy football team.
But we haven’t played safe throughout. We’ve gambled in midfield by selecting Philippe Coutinho, whose back appeared miraculously healed during international break when he scored for Brazil.
Be aware that Jurgen Klopp might not be as carefree, and could leave the Brazilian out of his squad altogether.
We’ve partnered him in midfield with Sadio Mane, who might be playing up front for Liverpool but is a midfielder in Dream Team Weekender.
It means there’s no place for Mohamed Salah, who’s also listed as a midfielder on the game.
In attack we’ve gone for Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge, who’ll be hoping he’s given the chance to put his old side to the sword.
Kevin de Bruyne or Sadio Mane? Why not pick both in this weekend’s big game?
That’s the beauty of Dream Team Weekender – there are no budget limitations so you can pick any player available from this weekend’s fixtures, with Man City v Liverpool the pick of the bunch.
Weekender is the best new fantasy football game around and it’s absolutely free to enter.
Just select seven players from across the Saturday and Sunday Premier League fixtures for your chance to bag that tasty £20k prizepot.
