Weekender is running side by side with the traditional Season Game this year and is undoubtedly the best new fantasy football format around.
So, according to Dream Team stats, which players would make a Team of the Season so far in Weekender format?
Well, it would look a little bit like this…
Goalkeeper: Jonas Lossl (Huddersfield) – 24 points
Lossl and Huddersfield have been a defensive revelation so far this season, keeping three successive clean sheets in their debut Premier League campaign.
Defender: Ahmed Hegazi (West Brom) – 31 points
The new Baggies’ signing earned back to back Star Man awards at the start of the season as West Brom took seven points from their opening three games. Looks a real fantasy football bargain at £1.8m.
Defender: Christopher Schindler (Huddersfield) – 34 points
Another of the resolute Terriers’ rearguard makes the team, with Schindler also earning consecutive precious Star Man awards against Newcastle and Southampton.
Midfielder: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – 33 points
Salah’s reintroduction to English football has been seamless, proving a lot of doubters wrong already after his unsuccessful spell at Chelsea. Three goals and two assists in five Liverpool appearances is a brilliant return.
Midfielder: Sadio Mane (Liverpool) – 31 points
The midfield has a very Liverpool feel to it, with Mane stepping up another notch from last season. The electric winger has three Premier League goals already this season and looks in the form of his life.
Striker: Wayne Rooney (Everton) – 24 points
Rooney has emphatically silenced the haters who felt his career was wilting away, scoring in his opening two fixtures upon his return to boyhood club Everton.
Striker: Roberto Firmino (Liverpool) – 41 points
By far and away the top Dream Team points scorer, Firmino has three goals and as many assists in five Liverpool games so far this season and has underlined how vital he is to Jurgen Klopp’s setup.
Kevin de Bruyne or Sadio Mane? Why not pick both in this weekend’s big game?
That’s the beauty of Dream Team Weekender – there are no budget limitations so you can pick any player available from this weekend’s fixtures, with Man City v Liverpool the pick of the bunch.
